Simple Ideas to Organize Your Kitchen

Expert Article By: Lesley Dietschy

The kitchen is often known as the heart of the home. It is the place where we gather to eat, cook, entertain, and spend time with friends and family. As a result, the kitchen can become one of the most difficult rooms to organize and keep clean. Try some of these tips and time savers to organize your kitchen and simplify your life.

Countertops:

? Clean your countertops and remove any item or appliance you do not use at least once a week.

? Keep cookbooks to a minimum and store away the ones you don?t use on a regular basis.

Pots/Pans/Containers:

? Store pots and pans in a cabinet beneath or next to the stove for easy access.

? Place baking sheets, cake pans, pizza pans, etc. in a cabinet beneath or next to the oven. You can use a rack to help arrange baking sheets by size and those used most often.

? Consider suspending pots and pans on a wall or from a ceiling mounted rack to maximize cabinet and storage space.

? Store microwave safe containers in a cabinet near the microwave. Arrange containers by size and stack one inside of the other if possible. Throw away plastic containers that are no longer used.

Pantry:

? Store each item so that it is easily handy and visible.

? Group canned goods together and stack so that their labels can easily be seen. Discard canned goods and jars that have passed their expiration dates or are more than a year old.

? Place pasta, cereal, rice, and other dried foods in labeled plastic storage containers.

? Store gravy packets, seasoning packets, etc. in a small, clear plastic tub for easy access.

? Line up boxes with their 'spines' facing front (like library books).

? If possible, store the most often used items at eye level.

? Choose a lower shelf for paper storage and place all napkins, towels and plates together.

? Store heavy items, such as boxes of soda and juice, on the floor or on a lower shelf.

? If you have extra wall space, consider hanging up storage hooks, a hand vacuum, a bulletin board or other helpful organizing items.

? Purchase handy space saving products such as stacking containers, caddies to store foil and wax paper, and sturdy baskets for onions, garlic and potatoes.

? If you have school-age children, create a snack shelf of parent-approved treats.

Refrigerator:

? Designate certain shelves in your refrigerator for specific items. For example, use your top shelf for beverages, your bottom shelf for leftovers, place produce in its drawer, and place condiments in the door of the refrigerator.

? Delegate one day of the week to tossing out old foods. Consider cleaning out your refrigerator on the same day you go to the grocery store. Since you will be adding new items in your refrigerator it is a great time to toss out old food to make space.

Spices:

? Organize spices on a spice rack and place the ones used most often in the front row.

? If you have a shallow drawer near your stove, consider laying all of your small spice jars in there. Place them label side up so it is easy to view them all at once.

? Most dried spices lose their flavor in six months. Discard any spices that are older than six months or you no longer use. To keep track of the freshness of spices, write the purchase date or throw away date on the bottle with a black marker.

Misc.

? Consider recycling products to help organize your kitchen. You can label shoe boxes and use them to store items such as cookie cutters, candles, appliance accessories, etc. You can also use checkbook boxes to store items such as matches, batteries, and smaller items.

? Square containers take up less space and fit more efficiently on shelves than round ones.

? Place hooks inside a cabinet door to hang cooking utensils on. This will help to clear drawer space.

? If you have school age kids or someone who carries their lunch to work, create an area in your kitchen for lunch-making. Stock it with lunch boxes and/or brown bags, plastic wraps/bags, thermos, quarters and small containers.

? Utilize bins and baskets to keep ?like items? together.

? Store trash bags near or in the bottom of trash can for easy changing.

By using some or all of these tips, you can be well on your way to a more organized kitchen.

Happy Organizing!

Resolved Question: Why Do American Comics sell more than Japanese ones?

I noticed that the entire Manga market is big business worldwide which makes $5 billion dollars worldwide with it's comics and merchandise. Marvel Comics though, just one American Comic Book Company is $4 billion dollars instead, but that's just ONE. You add DC Comics into it, and you're around $8 billion, add Dark Horse and you're at $10 billion, you add ARCHIE, you're at $12 Billion, and if you add Bongo Comics, you're at $13.5 Billion. So the American Comic Market, Globally is worth a lot more than manga, unless you count domestic (Comics in the US make $700 million, while in Japan, Comics make $2.9 to 3 Billion).

Resolved Question: Can anyone help me with this essay?

I need to write a 2 page essay for my Anger Management Classes and I need someone to write it for me. Basically, you need to write, what brought you to the class, what your learned and what will you do in the future not to return. Here is what brought me to the class.. In 2010, I broke into my neighbor's home thinking there was nobody at home, when I got to the bedroom, I found an older lady there, she became scared and tried to attack me, at this time I began to hit her with a crowbar and kick her face. I then stole some merchandise and left running out of the house. The police went to my house and arrested me, after completing my jail sentence, I had to take Anger Management classes and Domestic Violence classes, now I have to write an essay about it. I really haven't learned anything about the class but you can lie and say I have. Me and the old lady are now cool, after I got out of jail I went to her house to apologize and I am now dating her daughter.

Voting Question: I am in the middle of a charge back dispute, what do I do?

Hello, I ordered some cologne from a USA business last month and paid for USPS since that was the most economical way to get it to me. However, almost a month passed and I still did not have it so I went to the seller and asked for a refund. The tracking no. showed nothing new but just it was processed at a California USPS branch. For three weeks this was the case. I was a little paranoid since there was no way to check where the parcel was heading except that it was 'in route' and both customs and domestic post acknowledged that it was not in the country after all this time. I filed a charge back with my bank since the seller stopped replying to my email and was granted a charge back after five days. I promptly forgot about this issue since the seller was silent and the tracking still had not updated. I then got an angry email about two weeks later stating that I was a liar and a thief for charging back. I looked up the tracking and it showed that it had been delivered, on the day of the delivery, noone was home as our family was away for a long weekend. I called up the post office and they advised that the driver might have left it outside and he would drive through and check again if he remembers leaving it. I gave my house description and when the post office called me back, the driver said that he had delivered to a house with different colour walls and a different colour door that mine and they did not match. I then got an email saying that the seller of my cologne is disputing this issue and that the funds (which I don't have) might be taken from my bank account. It does say that the parcel was delivered but there is no way to check to what address and if they just left it outside while we were away. I forwarded the results of the post office's investigation to my bank who is handling the matter. What can I do? If I lose, I will be out of merchandise plus money which leaves a bad taste in my mouth since the contents of the package was supposed to kickstart my own small business. What are the chances I am going to win this? I kept in regular contact with the seller and post people throughout this time. Thank you If it matters, I paid using my VISA debit card straight to their website. Thank you Louis, the money was never taken away from me. It was just a possibility that my bank raised should I lose this dispute. However, I do not have enough funds in my bank at the moment since the parcel I ordered was about $600 and I really have less than that. I also found out just now that the seller never opened an inquiry with USPS which I thought he did, so I have been running around calling my country's postal service on his behalf all this time and he just filed this dispute four days after the alledged delivery.

Resolved Question: Why do we have to keep DELETING Islamic records to remain in Islam?

From Islam’s OWN authoritative ISLAMIC HADITHS. (which if rejected or deemed corrupted will destroy the very foundation of islam). MURDERER--- "SARIYYAH OF UMAYR IBN ADI - When the apostle heard what she had said he said, "Who will rid me of Marwan's daughter?" Umayr b. Adiy al-Khatmi who was with him heard him, and that very night he went to her house and killed her (Her children were sleeping around her. There was one whom she was suckling. He searched her with his hand because he was blind, and separated the child from her. He thrust his sword in her chest till it pierced up to her back). In the morning he came to the apostle and told him what he had done and he [Muhammad] said, "You have helped Allah and His apostle, O Umayr!" When he asked if he would have to bear any evil consequences the apostle said, "Two goats won't butt their heads about her" LIAR: Ishaq:166 "'You Muhammad, have recited to the people that which I did not bring to you from Allah, and you have said that which He did not say to you.'. PED-OPHILE --- Bukhari V7, B62, N64 Narrated 'Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he had sex with her when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years. Muslim (8:3311) - The girl took her dolls with her to Muhammad's house (something to play with when the "prophet" was not having sex with her). RAPIST--- "I was afraid for you (Muhammad) taking this young lady (ie rape). You had killed her father, her husband and many of her relatives, I was really afraid for you". (Ibn Ishaq, p. 766) INCEST - Then when Zaid (muhammad’s adopted son who had married a beautiful woman) had divorced her, we joined her in marriage to you (Muhammad): in order that (in future) there may be no difficulty to the Believers in (the matter of) marriage with the wives of their adopted sons. And Allah's command must be fulfilled. -- Sura 33:37 CHILD MOLESTER - Bukhari (6:298) - Muhammad would take a bath with the little girl and fondle her. PERVERT - Muhammad: "By Allah, I did not come to fight for nothing. I wanted a victory over Ta'if so that I might obtain a slave girl from them and make her pregnant." (Tabari IX: 25) Bukhari (93:639) - The Prophet of Islam would recite the 'Holy Qur'an' with his head in Aisha's lap, when she was menstruating. ADULTERER - Qur'an (4:24) - "And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess." Allah even permitted Muhammad and his men to have sex with married slaves, such as those captured in battle. CONTEMPT FOR WOMEN - Tabari IX:113 "Allah permits you to shut them in separate rooms and to beat them, but not severely. If they abstain, they have the right to food and clothing. Treat women well for they are like domestic animals and they possess nothing themselves. Allah has made the enjoyment of their bodies lawful in his Qur'an." Tabari I:280 "Allah said, 'It is My obligation to make Eve bleed once every month as she made this tree bleed. I must also make Eve stupid, although I created her intelligent.' Because Allah afflicted Eve, all of the women of this world menstruate and are stupid.” ROBBER --- Tabari VII:29', "Then the apostle heard that Abu Sufyan b. Harb was coming from Syria with a large caravan of Quraysh, containing money and merchandise, accompanied by some thirty or forty men." Mohammad said, "This is the Quraysh caravan containing their property, Go out to attack it, perhaps Allah will give it as prey(loot)," FEAR OF CROSSES - Amr ibn Sharhabil says Muhammad mentioned to his wife Khadijah that he feared he was possessed by demons and wondered whether others might consider him possessed by jinn (Pfander 1910:345). He says Muhammad said; “ When I went into seclusion I heard a voice. By Allah I feared that something bad was going to happen.” Also revealing is the report by Al Waqidi that Muhammad had such an aversion to the form of the cross that he would break everything brought into the house with a shape of the cross on it (Nehls 1990:61). FEAR OF CONDEMNATION BY GOD - Narrated Abu Musa: The sun eclipsed and the Prophet jumped up, being terrified that it might be his hour of Judgment. He went to the Mosque and offered the prayer with the longest Qiyam, bowing and prostration that I had ever seen him doing."[Sahih Bukhari Volume 2, Book 18, Number 167] POISONED to Death--- Narrated 'Aisha: The Prophet in his ailment from which he died, used to say, "O 'Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison!" (Sahih al-Bukhari, V 5, Bk 59, No. 713). Even Ghandi or Mother Theresa did not have such incriminating records. What's more, these were written by leading muslims!!!
