Open Question: What do condo/hotels include?

I am planning a beach vacation with my boyfriend and I need some help. We are planning to stay at a hotel that has condo type things. It has a full kitchen with stove, frigde, microwave and things like that. It also has a washer and dryer in it. I was wondering if the hotel would provide dish soap and laundry soap, would it have any food at all and what appliances would be provided? Also what utensils would the kitchen have? Would it have like casserole dishes or cookie sheets? Of course I wouldn't expect just anybody to know this but maybe somebody that has stayed in one. Thanks for your help.

Open Question: Should we try to work it out with our landlord or look for a new place to live?

My husband and I are renting an apartment. We love our apartment, and the rent is cheap. But I'm tired of the old kitchen appliances. I like to cook, but I don't like being in our own kitchen. I've been looking for a new apartment with an updated kitchen, but I haven't found an affordable apartment yet. The stove in our apartment is old, and the large burner quit working. Even if the burner gets fixed, I still don't like the stove. My mother-in-law offered to give us her stove because she's getting a new one. But what would we do with the current stove? My husband wants to ask the landlord to put it in storage, but what if he doesn't have a place to store it? We might be here for a few more years. Would it even be worth storing an old stove with a broken burner? If we accept my mother-in-law's stove, we would take it with us or sell it when we move out (probably in 2-3 years). If the landlord offered to buy it, we'd leave it with the apartment, but I doubt that he would do that. I also don't like our fridge. I've been looking at used fridges...Should we try to work something out with the landlord? or keep looking at more expensive apartments with updated kitchens? This is important to me. I want the kitchen to be a room that I like being in.

Open Question: When my mom left when i was 4, this is the way he parented. I have to come back in 2 weeks. Should i not?

Btw, no my dad is not an asian parent. He's african american. (im currently a 19 year old college freshman in chicago. But below is my life back home in the boston suburbs) this is what i come back to in 2 weeks...,.(also, im an only child) I wasnt allowed to use facebook, twitter, or any other social media websites. None was allowed. Occasionally if homework is completed, and its a weekend, i was allowed one hour of tv of an appropriate program, like american idol or food network. (this was like twice a year..IF that) My mom didnt let me date at all. (i never brought up the subject ever anyway) I was not allowed to be anywhere alone with the opposite sex. I also not allowed to go to parties with boys. (luckily i only had single sex friends and didnt go to parties) BUT my friend had a sweet sixteen with boys there AND her parents were present, but my dad and mom were hesistant to let me go. I was never allowed to have people over the house if my dad or stepmom was not there. But my dad was gone from 5:45am-7:30pm everyday for work and same withy stepmom, so that was hard. Once, my neighbor in my grade across the street left her key in her house. She ran my doorbell and asked if she could borrow my phone to call her mom. I said of course. But i got in SO much trouble for that when my parents got home! They want no one in the house! Also even when my dad WAS home, i couldnt have friends over really. My dad doesnt like people so he didnt want any in the house.( I had friends over once, in 8th grade but i had to have it planned a month in advance just so my friends could come over and we could "talk" for 3 hours) My dad didnt let me use the internet period  at home til  i was 15. But even then, i had to wait til he was home to use it. I could only use 30 min. For school work ONLY. After 30min, my dad would come and push me off the chair and yell "OFF!" No junk food was allowed for me. No chips, cookies, ice cream etc. Only on special occasions. The only thing I can drink at home at dinner is cranberry juice, milk, or water. No kitchen appliances could be used by me period.not even the toaster! (cuz our kitchen costs like over a hundred grand and everything is "too expensive" for me to touch") and they are afraid i will "burn the house down" I was allowed to get anything less than A grades in every course. Anything less than a 90 was warning sign that needs to be taken care of immediately. He even would get a teacher conference for a 98! Even with good grades, my dad called me a "failure at life" and that i'd never make it to college. He expected me to also be 3-4 grade levels ahead in math even in kindegarten! He expected 150 practice problems to be completed nightly after homework was done. He also wanted 1000 problems from his old university chemistry books done PER WEEK! He enrolled me in french class in kindegarten, also i was already reading the unabridged version of alice and wonderland, harry potter, and i knew my multiplication tables up to 12 by age 5. I also wasnt allowed ANY electronic devices by my dad. No ipods. I had 2 of them from my mom, but my dad found them and would take them away for the school year. He would give them back on summers. He was like "if i find another ipod, i'll SMASH it!" i didnt even get a cell phone til 15. Even then, it was a dumb go-phone....and my mom got it for me, my dad didnt want me to have one. Also i started flat ironing my curly hair in high school. My mom got me one for her apartment. My dad forbid me to bring it to his house. I did, and it was taken away til i graduated and left the house. So i got another iron but made sure i kept it at my moms. Also, i still dont know how to drive....im not allowed til im 21 or so....and when that happens im not allowed to use my parents cars for practice. I was never allowed out on school nights either. That was unquestionable obviously...if my dad had it his way, id never go out with friends PERIOD. He wanted me to just sit and study. I played violin grades 3-12. My dad would always say i sucked and in 6th grade he stopped coming to concerts. He made me practice 7 hours a week minimum when i was in middle school. He really wanted 20 hours a week, but i refused, so he said i was a slacker. Now he plays violin and says "i will play better than you ever will" My dad put me in daycare after school from ages 3-13. In middle school he would tell the staff to forbid me to talk to the other kids, and to forbid me to play. He said i could ONLY study, or he'd pull me out of the program. (they didnt want that, cuz we payed $4000 a year for it and they wanted the money). I asked my dad if i could take a 10 sec break. He said "NO!" He barely even interacted with me too... He only hugged me once in my life and said he loved me once. We didnt even eat any meals together til i was 12 my mom called and made him. Also, when we got a cat in 2nd grade, id have to ask permission to pet him! Lol! And i had stuff to deal with growing up: my dad phyiscally abused me when i was 3-15 and most of the time ignored me, my mom left us when i was 4 cuz she come out as a lesbian and she moved. After she had breast cancer in '98, she moved 400 miles away to live with her gf, when she came back she lived with my grandparents cuz she couldnt afford to live on her own and she didnt have the mental stability (she has 6 different mental illnesses, and was institutionalized 3 times all these years since i was born). My father also has a terminal illness of kidney failure (which he had since i was 5, and now he's kidney-less amd lives off dialysis for the rest of his life, while still having a great job, but many times esp when i was in high school, he'd be in and out of the hospital for months at the edge of his life.

Open Question: About how much would it cost to build a 700 Square foot home?

My husband and I are going to build a small house to start off with then in 10 yrs or so build our dream big house! We live with his parents and we've been married for 7 months so we want to get out and have our own space, so we can start planning to have a baby. I'm just looking for a basic estimate for lumber, plumbing, floors, tiles, concrete. Not including like appliances and such. Just the basic build. We're thinking 2 bedrooms the second being smaller as it will be the kids room, living and dining together, kitchen, space for a stacked washer and dryer and maybe a loft area. Thanks for any help!

Open Question: Furnishing a small space?

My friend and I are moving into a two bedroom, one bathroom apartment soon. It's about 800 sq. feet with a combined living room and dining room. Since the kitchen comes with updated appliances and a built in breakfast bar, I was thinking of just buying a few bar stools and using the extra space for a entertainment.. living room set, television, etc. Does anyone have any other ideas for decorating a small space without it being/looking cluttered?

Open Question: Flash of bluish white light in my house (similar to lightning in appearance)?

My wife was in the kitchen and I was about 15 feet from her. A flash of blue light occured about 5 feet from her and above her head (we have 10'ceilings it was about 2-3' below the ceiling). There were no storms in the area and no appliances or lights nearby. It was very bright and she was taken aback by it. It made no noise. It appeared very much like a minaiture lightning strike in my house. All windows were closed by the way. My wife thinks it is paranormal in nature and I tend to agree, but perhaps there is a scientific explanation?

    Open Question: Kitchen remodel-help?

So, I'm hoping to remodel our kitchen and we're just now creating our budget based on bids and costs of materials/appliances. Luckily, the kitchen's layout, plumbing, electrical and cabinetry are all in great shape. But the appliances are old, the floor, countertops, backsplash etc. have seen better days. So before we commit to these materials/appliances I just wanted some feedback about some of the big decisions. Appliances: We went to a Wolf/Sub-zero showroom for these as the appliances were our main reason for an upgrade. We have a big family and almost always eat at home but they are pricey. Has anyone found them to be worthwhile? Countertops: I want to go with quartz because they might be the best of both worlds since they are aesthetically pleasing but also stain, heat and scratch resistant with no need of sealing. Is all that true or would you recommend something else? Flooring: We currently have some strange laminate I detest and I wanted hardwood to match the rest of the house. BUT I think ceramic tile might be the best option since the kitchen is such a high traffic area. What do you recommend? Backsplash: Lots of disagreements on this one. My Dad suggested the economical and timeless ceramic subway tiles which would really stand the test of time. My husband wants some faux-stone material -_- but I would really like a recycled glass mosaic. Why recycled?--it makes me feel better about how awful I'm being for choosing the most expensive option :P Has anyone used glass and is it easier to maintain? Should I go for the cheaper materials? Thanks for your time!
