Resolved Question: Why do some people think these feminist quotes are hateful?

"I feel that 'man-hating' is an honorable and viable political act, that the oppressed have a right to class-hatred against the class that is oppressing them." -- Robin Morgan, Ms. Magazine Editor. "I haven't the faintest notion what possible revolutionary role white hetero- sexual men could fulfill, since they are the very embodiment of reactionary- vested-interest-power. But then, I have great difficulty examining what men in general could possibly do about all this. In addition to doing the shitwork that women have been doing for generations, possibly not exist? No, I really don't mean that. Yes, I really do." -- Robin Morgan "To call a man an animal is to flatter him; he's a machine, a walking dildo." -- Valerie Solanas, Authoress of the SCUM Manifesto "Life in this society being, at best, an utter bore and no aspect of society being at all relevant to women, there remains to civic-minded, responsible, thrill-seeking females only to overthrow the government, eliminate the money system, institute complete automation, and destroy the male sex." -- Valerie Solana, SCUM founder (Society for Cutting Up Men.) "The male is a domestic animal which, if treated with firmness...can be trained to do most things." -- Jilly Cooper, SCUM (Society For Cutting Up Men, started by Valerie Solanas) "Since marriage constitutes slavery for women, it is clear that the women's movement must concentrate on attacking this institution. Freedom for women cannot be won without the abolition of marriage." -- Sheila Cronin, the leader of the feminist organization NOW "I want to see a man beaten to a bloody pulp with a high-heel shoved in his mouth, like an apple in the mouth of a pig." -- Andrea Dworkin "Marriage as an institution developed from rape as a practice." -- Andrea Dworkin "Heterosexual intercourse is the pure, formalized expression of contempt for women's bodies." -- Andrea Dworkin "In my own life, I don't have intercourse. That is my choice." -- Andrea Dworkin Under patriarchy, every woman's son is her potential betrayer and also the inevitable rapist or exploiter of another woman." -- Andrea Dworkin "To be rapeable, a position that is social, not biological, defines what a woman is." -- Andrea Dworkin "Q: People think you are very hostile to men. A: I am." -- Andrea Dworkin "Men use the night to erase us." -- Andrea Dworkin "The annihilation of a woman's personality, individuality, will, character, is prerequisite to male sexuality." -- Andrea Dworkin "Men love death. In everything they make, they hollow out a central place for death, let its rancid smell contaminate every dimension of whatever still survives. Men especially love murder. In art they celebrate it, and in life they commit it. They embrace murder as if life without it would be devoid of passion, meaning, and action, as if murder were solace, stilling their sobs as they mourn the emptiness and alienation of their lives." -- Andrea Dworkin "Men are rapists, batterers, plunderers, killers; these same men are religious prophets, poets, heroes, figures of romance, adventure, accomplishment, figures ennobled by tragedy and defeat. Men have claimed the earth, called it 'Her'. Men ruin Her. Men have airplanes, guns, bombs, poisonous gases, weapons so perverse and deadly that they defy any authentically human imagination." -- Andrea Dworkin, Pornography: Men Possessing Women "The institution of sexual intercourse is anti-feminist" -- Ti-Grace Atkinson "Rape is nothing more or less than a conscious process of intimidation by which all men keep all women in a state of fear" -- Susan Brownmiller; Authoress of Against Our Will p.6 "When a woman reaches orgasm with a man she is only collaborating with the patriarchal system, eroticizing her own oppression." -- Sheila Jeffrys "All sex, even consensual sex between a married couple, is an act of violence perpetrated against a woman." -- Catherine MacKinnon "You grow up with your father holding you down and covering your mouth so another man can make a horrible searing pain between your legs." -- Catherine MacKinnon (Prominent legal feminist scholar; University of Michigan, & Yale.) "In a patriarchal society, all heterosexual intercourse is rape because women, as a group, are not strong enough to give meaningful consent." -- Catharine MacKinnon, quoted in Professing Feminism: Cautionary Tales from the Strange World of Women's Studies. "Ninety-five percent of women's experiences are about being a victim. Or about being an underdog, or having to survive... women didn't go to Vietnam and blow things up. They are not Rambo." -- Jodie Foster; Actress

Resolved Question: Why do Republicans, modern Conservatives & Tea Party attack Obama on his tax policies but praise Reagan?

Reagan signed the largest peacetime tax increase in American history into law. (Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982) Even if Obama let the Bush tax cuts for highest income brackets expire Reagan will still hold that record. I posted modern Conservatives because true Conservatives like William F. Buckley, Jr. did not praise Reagan for his tax policies. "According to a recent Treasury Department study, TEFRA alone raised taxes by almost 1 percent of the gross domestic product, making it the largest peacetime tax increase in American history. An increase of similar magnitude today would raise more than $100 billion per year. In 1983, Reagan signed legislation raising the Social Security tax rate. This is a tax increase that lives with us still, since it initiated automatic increases in the taxable wage base. As a consequence, those with moderately high earnings see their payroll taxes rise every single year. In 1984, Reagan signed another big tax increase in the Deficit Reduction Act. This raised taxes by $18 billion per year or 0.4 percent of GDP. A similar-sized tax increase today would be about $44 billion. The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 raised taxes yet again. Even the Tax Reform Act of 1986, which was designed to be revenue-neutral, contained a net tax increase in its first 2 years. And the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 raised taxes still more." National Review (a biweekly magazine founded by William F. Buckley) http://old.nationalreview.com/nrof_bartlett/bartlett200310290853.asp

Resolved Question: Do you think this is fascist?

So I was talking with my therapist about a writing assignment she had me do, and I wrote my opinions on some things. She said that they were heavy handed, strict, compassionate, and fascist. However she is heavily liberal, and opposed to weapons in the home, and seems to think that people who own guns could blow any moment. For example she said one of the reasons is that the gun becomes and option in domestic arguments, and that your morel likely to shoot family. I told her that areas with the most gun restrictions have the most gun crime but she didn't believe me. But here are the opinions I wrote. These are not yet complete and would need more programs to go alongside them. She said by themselves they are fascist but would be less fascist if there were support networks. Here they are:/ Welfare: 1. Aid is capped at 3 years if the Receiver is not disabled. If the Receiver is disabled, in that case they can be put on more permanent social security. 2. Cap aid at 2 children. Additional children born on welfare will not be covered. However if the recipient had more before he/she started receiving aid they will be covered. 3. A program will be run for job placement in needed sectors, in jobs that also cover the cost of living. Any one refusing to join the program will have benefits cut. Illegal Immigration: 1. Check records for that persons name and if they pay taxes. 2. Check if they speak English. 3. Send illegal aliens currently in custody back to their home country. 4. Send border states militias to the border on armed patrol. 5. Complete fences along Mexican border. 6. Round up and deport known illegal aliens. 7. Make English de jure, along side its current de facto status, the official language in the U.S. 8. Encourage states to institute laws similar to Arizona's SB1070. Gun control: 1. Eliminate gun free zones. They are easy slaughter zones for killers and an armed citizenry is the best defense against criminals. 2. Eliminate waiting periods for gun purchases. 3. Remove bogus assault weapons laws, which outlaw such features as barrel shrouds, pistol grips, large magazines, flash suppressors, and short barrels, all of which are very useful for a citizen defending themselves. 4. Eliminate bogus air gun laws, as these are absurdly restrictive. In D.C for example they are virtually banned, despite the fact that the injury rate from air guns is quite low. In D.C, air guns cannot be shipped to or from D.C limiting purchase inside D.C, except for the fact that there are no stores which sell them inside D.C; in addition, air guns can be used to teach good habits and gun safety, as well as hunting vermin and for fun. 5. Reform city gun laws, returning to D.C again, allow open and concealed carry laws, similar to Virginia's. 6. Expand Castle Doctrine to other States and cities, such as D.C DC voting rights: 1. DC residential areas should be ceded to Maryland, while keeping federal areas in their own jurisdiction. The residential area could be called Washington, Maryland, while the governmentall area would simply be the Federal District run directly by Congress. So what she said is that the welfare portion would create a hugely impoverished underclass, and she in general doesn't agree with any of them. Along with these would be job reform, economic reform, and education reform. No I do not cry. I didn't check to see if she was liberal. I'm willing to negotiate and bend these rules. The projects to make them viable would be very large I admit. I intend to adjust welfare to keep whole generations from living on it.

Resolved Question: Important! College students who are, have been, or know someone who is/has been in an abusive relationship.?

I am a reporter for College Magazine (www.collegemagazine.com), which is nationally published and reaches hundreds of thousands of college students throughout the country. I am currently working on a story about domestic violence and abusive relationships among college students, and I am looking for people who are in, have ever been, or know someone under these conditions who is willing to talk. I will respect your privacy and issues, and absolutely will not use this as a type of exploitation-- its more so an advice piece so students can avoid being in these situations. Please pleasee let me know ASAP, it's pretty time sensitive and it would help so much! And you'll (if you want) get to be quoted in the magazine, which is pretty cool ;)

Resolved Question: Do women in USA still have domestic orientation?

Women in USA earn about 57 percent of bachelors degrees and 59 percent of masters degrees. Educated women tend to gravitate to fields such as education, English, psychology, biology, art, history etc which are classified as Humanities. They are somewhat extentions of family caring. Educated men are much more numerous in physics, mathematics, computer science, and engineering. They are somewhat like male conquests of the world. http://www.american.com/archive/2008/march-april-magazine-contents/why-can2019t-a-woman-be-more-like-a-man http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/04/20/national/main6414471.shtml http://www.mlive.com/news/flint/index.ssf/2010/04/dominating_degrees_women_outnu.html Gender gap growing: The number of women enrolled in undergraduate classes has grown more than twice as fast as it has for men. Women outnumber men on campus by at least 2 million, and the gap is growing. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13088955/ns/us_news-education/ http://www.judithkleinfeld.com/ar_studentperformance.html There is no engineering book written by a woman.

Resolved Question: Right-wing female politician = Smart Women?

I heard that women should have some sort of "special trait or kind" in their cerebral system if they want to beat us on every level. Not just some kind of emotional ability or hormone (testosterone) but also 'a shape' in their brain which gives and delivers an ability to defeat (ha ha..) or at least to compete male beings. And then i just found an article in a science magazine that a right-wing conservative margaret thatcher (former british prime minister who was active during the end of cold war) had a "different form" in her left-side (cerebral hemisphere) that mostly only owns by men. So, like we all know that margaret thatcher was one of the most distinguished and highly respectable leader in her era (a key player during the downfall of communism in soviet and domestic recovery in economy,etc..etc) You must have wondered how come that she ( a woman) could have an ability to tackle many difficult issues? Well, she definitely got something special and guess what? you're right, she does. I forgot what is it called but one sure thing : it what make us become more capable of everything (not confined nor limited) and it stores in our brain system , ever since it was the center of all cognitive-process that resulted in our behavior and manner So, aside from a sense that all those brilliant ladies must have a thing in common than doesn't own by most of women, i also just realized that most of them are right-winger. Ok, check this out : Margaret Thatcher (Ex-British PM), Condolezza Rice (Former US secretary of state) , Tzipi Livni (Leader of Kadima Party in Knesset, Israel), Angela Merkel (Current german Chancellor), etc See? None of them are 'liberal' mess who does nothing but ranting. But conservatives who are much more "in the right order", to carry on something which have 'nicely shaped' and been proven to be a successful policy over decades, instead of 'revolutionize' an old formula. And also sometimes they blew me away with their intelligent speech and their approach to face a certain subject. What do u guys think?

Resolved Question: Of custody battles and sparring ex-partners...?

There's a people magazine article out about how Mel Gibson and his ex-girlfriend have been having custody disputes about their 7 month old daughter. Apparently going against the custody agreement they have in place his ex-girlfriend refused to let him see his daughter on Father's day. He claims she's trying to get more money out of her. She's claiming domestic abuse, he's claiming that it was actually her that was acting all hysterical and screaming and shaking the baby like a ragdoll on the occassion in question. Here's a link to the article: http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20397406,00.html If the link isn't clickable, just copy and paste it on to your address bar and hit enter. Your thoughts on the whole sorry state of affairs and similar happenings that are taking place elsewhere between less famous split-up couples?
