Aster Professor Kippenburg

Aster novae-belgii

The Aster 'Professor Kippenburg'Ö, Aster novae-angliae, has beautiful vivid purple daisy-like flowers that cover the plant. The flowers are 1-2'¥ wide with a plant width of 12-18'¥ and a height of 18-20'¥. It is a definite showstopper. 'Professor Kippenburg'Ö, blooming in the early fall till frost, is a definite butterfly and bird attractor. 'Professor Kippenburg'Ö looks great in borders and mass plantings. The effect is indescribable. Aster 'Professor Kippenburg'Ö does require full sun, but can take some afternoon shade, in a moderate soil range with good drainage that does not become extremely dry during the summer. Aster 'Professor Kippenburgs'Ö make an excellent container plant or front of the garden feature and looks great with ornamental grasses.

RIGHT TREES, SHRUBS CAN WITHSTAND WISCONSIN WINTER.(Daybreak)

Winter can be tough on Wisconsin's trees and shrubs. Low temperatures, rapid temperature changes, winter desiccation and the weight of ice and snow can damage vulnerable trees and shrubs. Woody plants gradually acclimate to cold temperatures. Cold-hardiness is initiated by decreasing day length and

Trees, shrubs have purpose

Trees, shrubs beautify the winter landscape

The first lecture I heard on "winter interest in the garden" left me skeptical. "Not my season. Not that interested. I'm shutting it down and staying inside," I thought. Back then I was a vegetable and flower gardener, hadn't learned my shrubs and trees, and probably hadn't learned to use my eyes
