Astrantia Florence

Astrantia major 'Florence'

The Astrantia major 'Florence' (PPAF), Astrantia major, has lavender-pink flowers that bloom throughout late summer and early fall. Grow them in full sun and well drained soil for optimum bloom and plant vigor. It is characterized by its upright plant habit; green-colored stems and leaves; freely and continuous flowering habit; and inflorescences with showy involucral bracts that are dark pink in color. It is an interesting clumping perennial for a woodland setting and is becoming increasingly popular. Cut flowers last a long while in bouquets and are easily dried for winter reminders of summer gardens. Though it can adapt to a little more sun than it prefers, it cannot abide drought. Bees & butterflies are very fond of the blooms.
