Viburnum Redwing American Cranberrybush

Viburnum trilobum 'J. N. Select'

Redwing American Cranberrybush, 'Viburnum trilobum 'J. N. Select', has something for every season. The spring foliage has a reddish tint. White flowers appear in mid May, followed by persistent bright red fruit. The fall color is a stunning brilliant red with a very impressive berry display. Redwing has a densely branched upright form, good growth rate and attractive, red-tinted new foliage. It requires full sun to partial shade; moist, well-drained soil is best, but is tolerant of wet soils; also tolerant of alkaline soils. This upright, round shaped shrub grows 8-10 feet tall and 6-8 wide. Redwing offers something of interest all year and its dense foliage makes a nice hedge. It is an excellent plant for screening and informal hedging. What a great flower, fruit, and foliage! This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds.

Open Question: Why is it that when you pose a reasonable, logical question to a Christian?

they start quoting the same flawed book? There are thousands of inaccuracies in the Bible. Here are a list of a few scientific errors: I challenge any Christian on Yahoo Answers! to solve these so- called mysteries/miracles of the Bible that we can't seem to figure out even in modern day! 1. Astronomy: First we deal with Astronomy., The Bible speaks about the creation of the universe. In the beginning, 1st Book, Book of Genesis, 1st Ch., it is mentioned - It says… ‘Almighty God created the Heavens and the Earth, in six days and talks about a evening and a morning, referring to a 24 - hour day. Today scientists tell us, that the universe cannot be created in a 24 hour period of six days. 2. The Bible says in Genesis Ch. No. 1 Verses No. 3 and 5,…‘Light was created on the first day.’ Genesis, Ch., 1 Verses, 14 to 19… ‘The cause of light - stars and the sun, etc. was created on the fourth day’. How can the cause of light be created on the 4th day - later than the light which came into existence on the first day? 3. Further, the, Bible says Genesis, Ch. 1, Verses 9 to 13… ‘Earth was created on the 3rd day. How can you have a night and day without the earth ? The day depends upon the rotation of the Earth Without the earth created, how can you have a night and day? 4. Genesis, Ch. No. 1 Verses 9 to 13 says… ‘Earth was created on the third day.’ Genesis Ch. No. 1 Verses 14 to 19 says…‘The Sun and the Moon were created on the fourth day.’ Today science tells us… ‘Earth is part of the parent body… the sun.’ It cannot come into existence before the sun – It is unscientific. 5. The Bible says in Genesis, Ch. No.1, Verse No. 11 to 13…‘The vegetation, the herbs the shrubs, the trees - they were created on the 3rd day And the Sun, Genesis, Ch. No. 1, Verses. 14 to 19, was created on the 4th day.How can the vegetation come into existence without sunlight, and how can they survive without sunlight ?

Resolved Question: What insect/disease is attacking my shrubs?

Sometime last fall I noticed what I thought were aphids on my two pittosporum "trees" (they are both about 9' tall, with multiple trunks). I sprayed them and thought I solved the problem, although I noticed shortly after that that there were quite a few ladybugs on them. I didn't bother with them, mostly because I got busy, but I did notice that the trees started smelling REALLY, REALLY weird. An unpleasant, musty smell. It was very strong. They smelled like that for a good 2 months, and still do stink a little. Anyway, a couple of months ago, I saw a woodpecker pecking away at the trunks of one of the trees. I've seen him out there at least 10 times since then, and, from the looks of the trunks, he's out there quite a bit. Lately I've also noticed that the trees aren't as full as they used to be, too, so today I took a better look, and it looks like at least one of the trunks is completely dead. What's going on, and is there any hope for these trees? Just to clarify, not all the trunks/branches are dead. Just a few.... Resolved Question: Do growing plants generate enough heat to make a significant difference to ground temperature?

Many of my neighbours have almost barren gardens, mostly concrete or paving slabs. Following the recent snow I noticed that those of us who have plants, shrubs and small trees growing in our gardens the snow cleared sooner than the paved/concrete gardens.

Resolved Question: best shrubs and plants for shaded border & when to plant them?

My garden is south facing in the north of England and I have built a 12" high x 9" inward brick wall around the edge of the garden. I am looking to plant different plants inside this structure that are obviously sun lovers on two sides of the garden but two sides that will be in the shade due to the fence. Ideally I would like some plants, shrub, small tree that would last annually in whatever conditions but also plants that will bloom annually. I will of course fill most gaps with small bedding plants. I have worked hard in the autumn to prepare the garden for a new lease of life and would like to start on the right footing. If possible I would prefer small shrubs and bushes but ideally maintenance limited (if you get my drift.) Also my lawn was re-laid with new turf in October but unfortunately there are one or two small patches that are white and dead. Can you tell me the best remedy for this and when to apply it?

Resolved Question: my rabbit digs, how can i protect my plants?

he's a dwarf rabbit male, and he'll be living in a planted enclosure. i don't mind him grazing on the grasses, but i would like to protect my shrubs and small trees from his naughty gnawing and digging. what would be the best way to protect the plants? i'd probably put rocks around the plant's base, would that work? or perhaps i should provide an area for the rabbit to dig: soft soil with no grasses.? and also, can dwarf rabbits dig on a field of established grasses? that's all i guess... thanks

Resolved Question: Pruning and shaping a Chilean Mesquite tree?

Hi, I have a tree that I planted about a year and a half ago. They grow so fast wow!. I want my tree shaped, like trees I see around my house some are like split where it looks like the tree has had alot of branches removed when it was young so that its got barely any main branches, and then the foliage is on the places where branches are left. My tree resembles say a Christmas tree that isnt all bushy. You see lots of brances, some larger than others growing from the main stalk, and some of those larger branches Id like to keep and get rid of the rest. Ive been reading up and got the impression that you dont remove more than 25% of the tree at one pruning (a year). It was pruned last year, basically thinned out, but now it doesnt look that way anymore, the person kinda left the branches and took off what was on the branches. Theres no trees around that look like mine, mines more a tall wide shrub instead ofa tree now. Any suggestions on how to get a more, almost Bonsai effect, meaning alot of room between branches for a more controlled look? Thank you. I cant find specific info online as of yet. Plus how far from the bottom can the branches be removed? I mean like I said, the trunk is covered in branches almost right down to the ground. The tree was in a 5 or 10 gallon bucket and only 3' tall when I got it.
