Resolved Question: SURVEY... NEED A LOT OF PEOPLE TO ANSWER SURVEY. PLEASE TAKE TIME TO HELP!?
Survey Sheet on Energy-Saving Light bulbs
COMPACT FLOURESCENT LIGHTS VERSUS INCANDESCENT LIGHT BULBS,ETC.
INFORMATION:
A compact fluorescent lamp (CFL), also called compact fluorescent light, energy-saving light, and compact fluorescent tube, is a fluorescent lamp designed to replace an incandescent lamp; some types fit into light fixtures formerly used for incandescent lamps. The lamps use a tube which is curved or folded to fit into the space of an incandescent bulb, and a compact electronic ballast in the base of the lamp.
The incandescent light bulb, incandescent lamp or incandescent light globe produces light by heating a filament wire to a high temperature until it glows. The hot filament is protected from oxidation in the air with a glass enclosure that is filled with inert gas or evacuated. In a halogen lamp, filament evaporation is prevented by a chemical process that redeposits metal vapor onto the filament, extending its life. The light bulb is supplied with electrical current by feed-through terminals or wires embedded in the glass. Most bulbs are used in a socket which provides mechanical support and electrical connections.

Resolved Question: flourescent white balance is bluish in color even if used in right setting.?
i am using canon eos 550d. i usually use manual mode. i set the shutter speed, aperture, and also the white balance. when the subject is indoor, .like in a room with flourescent lightings, i set my white balance to "flourescent", but when the image is captured, it is bluish, and not just slightly bluish, it is really bluish in tint. that's why i use auto white balance instead. there is no problem when i use daylight when outside, cloudy when it's cloudy, tungsten when using yellow bulb, etc... it is only the flourescent i get trouble with.
is there any other settings to change? with my other camera like my canon G11 and my compact SX130 IS, i get satisfactory resulst with the flourescent setting... only with my eos 550d i get confused. is it becoz this is a dslr and has different settings? or is something wrong my 550d? please share what you know. thank you in advance.

Resolved Question: I need someone to double check my math here?
I want to make a multi-bulb lamp. I will be using 13 watt compact flourescent bulbs. But, I'm not sure I'm doing my math right here, because the answer I come up with seems implausible.
Watts = Amps x Volts
A lamp cord is rated for 10 Amps.
Therefore...a 13 Watt, 120 Volt bulb = approximately 0.11 Amps (120 Volts x 0.11 Amps = 13.2 Watts)
Does this mean I could theoretically put 90 bulbs on this thing?! HELP!!!!!
What I think I'm doing wrong here is that I am using the wattage of the bulbs, rather than the suggested wattage of the lamp assembly itself, usually being 60 Watts. But I'm kind of lost here.
If I do it for 60 Watts, I get a maximum of about 8 bulbs. That sounds more reasonable, but I still haven't seen an 8 bulb lamps. So that's mainly what my issue is. I can't find a satisfactory answer on my own.
Correction* I get a maximum of 20 bulbs with 60 Watts. It's late and I'm tired, so not much of this is making sense right now. Sorry.
@ Adam E That just does not seem safe...but I trust my math, and now yours. Thank you. So I ought to be okay with putting 4 or 5 bulbs on this lamp. Good to know.

Resolved Question: What type of light do i need to grow basil indoors?
I just bought a little basil plant at the garden center. We only get 4-5 hours of direct sunlight at my place so I need to supplement with a grow light. They have no grow lights at lowe's or home depot. I went to Pet Smart and got a10W miini compact flourescent that said it was for fish and plants that gives of that blue-ish light, but I dont think its strong enough. Pretty sure I need one of the bigger 125-150Watt compact fluorescents, but not sure. Any guidance would be appreciated.
